The milestones of the Dethleffs company.
The Dethleffs KG is born, foundation of the first whip factory. Later they started producing ski sticks.
1931 "Not without my family" were the words spoken by Arist Dethleffs over 70 years ago when he built his first recreational vehicle, which allowed his family to travel with him on his business trips. He names his invention "Wohnauto". During the following years the first caravans are built on order in a wooden shed.
The company "Dethleffs Wohnauto" employs six permanent employees.
Start of the serial production. Receipt of many international awards for design and quality. Whip production is discontinued
Establishment of the first production line for caravans. Dethleffs focus on a single model called the "CAMPER".
The model range is enlarged to five types. The most successful products are "CAMPER", "TOURIST", "COMFORT" and "GLOBETROTTER".
Dethleffs build a new factory on the outskirts of Isny with a production floor of 12.000 sqm and a modern administration building. The number of employees increases to 235.
The production reaches 4.700 caravans for the first time. Increased exports gain a larger share of the production.
Dethleffs build their first motorhome and are the first German manufacturer of recreational vehicles to use the Fiat Ducato chassis as a basis for their coachbuilt models. Dethleffs prove to be a pioneer in the motorhome production. The "CD" with its automotive exterior design is an innovative highlight of motorhome manufacturing with the Low Profile plastic sandwich construction.
The A Class range completes the motorhome range.
Building of the new production hall with 6.200 sqm and an investment of about 12 millions DM. Dethleffs successfully pass the first crash test to be documented in public at the German Federal Institute for Road Traffic in Cologne.
First safety training takes place for all motorhome brands.

On February the 14th Arist Dethleffs dies in Isny at the age of 88.

Dethleffs are enlarging expertise in winterisation by introducing the new Winter Comfort Packages. For several years now Dethleffs is number one on the Scandinavian market.
Thanks to a positive business development the factory is enlarged again. The Family Card Concept is revised and now offers an extension of warranty to four years.
The Dethleffs Family Foundation is born, which allows families in need and social institutions experience caravaning holidays. Due to the factory-own paint shop, Dethleffs have the possibility to offer affordable exterior colours for motorhomes and is setting new trends.
The rental service McRent is founded.
The largest model range of the Dethleffs history is presented. Outstanding: the development of the "TOURIST LIGHT", an especially light caravan due to special materials.
With the "GLOBEBUS" Dethleffs enter a new market segment for the company. The latest newcomer is the "ESPRIT RT", a Low Profile based on the Renault Master. Furthermore Dethleffs is now producing van conversions for Pössl.
The year 2006 is one of the most spectacular years in the Dethleffs history: Dethleffs celebrate their 75th birthday and also the first fabrication of the caravan in the year of 1931 in Germany.
With a revised model range the manufacturer started the new year and could reap the fruits of their innovative vehicles: prestige awards of the Promobil readers' voting and two MMM awards in UK confirm the right nose of the Dethleffs development team. After the market leadership in Germany and Scandinavian countries Dethleffs has found their way into the market of Netherlands.
The female motorhome has created a sensation on the CMT in Stuttgart.
Foundation of the Sunlight GmbH which is a 100% subsidiary company of Dethleffs and offers caravans and motorhomes for more beneficial segment.
The year 2007 Dethleffs close with a record result. In comparison with the last year the manufacturer in Allgaeu was able to increase the turnover for 16.4%. 326 millions Euros were achieved by the production of 7.315 motorhomes and 4.947 caravans until the end of August. For Dethleffs it was the fifth year in a row with turnover records.
The ESPRIT H will be awarded with the Golden Steering Wheel.
The customer development project "BestAger" for the generation 50+ will be introduced.
Dethleffs break the barriers with the "Family Caravan" for the caravan segment.
With the GLOBETROTTER XXL PREMIUM LINER Dethleffs enter the luxury class for motorhomes.
For the first time the King-Customer-Award by the RMI magazine is awarded: Dethleffs become overall winner and take the first place within the categories: "Cost-Performance-Ratio", "Workshop" and "Service".
High investments for the company! An independent service centre in Isny, outside of the company premises, is built. The complete pre-fabrication will be adapted to the more flexible production and high quality demands.
McRent - rental station in Isny opens its doors.
Dethleffs receive four awards for the "Motorhome of the Year" voting. The Dutch magazine KCK awards Globeline T 6813 as the motorhome of the year.
For reasons of environment protection and sustainability Dethleffs install a modern 6 Megawatts block heating plant. By the use of own wood waste we can conserve up to 100.000 l of heating oil per year. In the same time Dethleffs implement the paperless production. A saving of 7.5 t of paper per year.
The Luxus caravan CARALINER is presented.
Again Dethleffs is an overall winner of the "King-Customer-Award" and is first in six categories of seven. The special prize for "Design" is awarded to Dethleffs as well.
The first Dethleffs Low Profile model with a pull-down bed is presented.
Dethleffs bring new colours into play: in addition to the popular exterior colours - such as white and silver - there are four other pastel colours available: "Bright Sand", "Laguna Blue", "Milky Green" and "Cacao Grey" for ranges Lifestyle, Aero Style and Esprit.
The edition caravan "Dethleffs EIGHTY" for the 80-years anniversary of Dethleffs is presented at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf.
The NEWLINE, NOMAD, LIFESTYLE Alkoven and GLOBETROTTER XLi are new ranges for the Dethleffs model programme.
